Capital for Public Safety Innovation

Accelerating Public Safety Innovation

OUR MISSION

Responder Corp is a comprehensive platform supporting a healthy ecosystem of innovation for the public safety industry. Our mission is to bring innovation to the space so that we can equip first responders with the technology and tools they need to be safe and secure on the job. It’s a mission we’re proud to support. It’s a mission, that when done right, will make our communities safer.

We began as venture investors, supporting leading entrepreneurs with capital. Along the way we learned that investing in leading technologies is not enough to drive the level of impact we want to bring to this very challenging space. Simply put, the public safety industry has been weighed down by an ecosystem that starves innovation.

We see significant, positive change on the horizon. Transformative infrastructure investment and technology are set to feed the public safety innovation ecosystem like never before. Things like drones, the cloud, machine learning / AI, and blockchain, are being combined with massive government investment from initiatives like FirstNet and NG-911. We’ve built Responder Corp to support this growing ecosystem in all phases.

THE PLATFORM

  • Direct Engagement with First Responders
  • A Marketplace for Deployment
  • Investment Capital for Innovation
  • Support Network for Entrepreneurs

Our Story

  1. Founded with a mission

Responder was founded to address the technology deficiencies we experienced on the job as boots-on-the-ground responding to emergencies

Our mission is innovate public safety to protect and empower our first responders so they can keep themselves and our communities safe

  2. Began as investors

We began our mission as venture investors, supporting leading innovation with investment capital

To date, we’ve invested in 8 companies with disruptive technology to drive innovation in the industry

We are the only venture capital firm dedicated to the public safety industry

  3. We weren’t meeting our mission

Along the way we learned that investing in select leading technologies is not enough to drive the level of impact we want to bring to this very challenging space

As the only investors in the space, we were forced to turn down 100’s of solutions with life saving potential for first responders – the vast majority of which never made it to the hands of first responders

  4. Due to Market Inefficiencies Early Stage Capital Avoids Public Safety

We sought to expand the capital base entering the space to increase our impact

Private investors across the globe decline investments in public safety due to the increased risk driven from singular market inefficiency

We have to identify and address those inefficiencies to attract capital to the industry

  5. We Built A Platform to Address the Inefficiencies and Support the Ecosystem

We identified the primary points of inefficiency, and expanded to a platform model to address those weak points

Responder Corp is a comprehensive platform supporting a healthy ecosystem of innovation for public safety

Led by Passion for Public Safety and Entrepreneurship

As an active deputy, I see first hand the technology deficiencies first responders overcome on a daily basis. As an active investor in the space, I see first hand the inefficiencies in the innovation cycle that keeps that needed technology out of the field. We need to solve this problem. It’s putting our first responders in harm’s way, and it’s leaving our communities vulnerable..

Fortunately, there are others working on this mission. Unfortunately, we don’t agree with much of the methodology most of them are implementing.

Bottom-line, any solution needs to start and end with boots-on-the-ground responders. We need their input and we need their feedback. The technology needs to not only be built for first responders, but it needs to built with first responders.

At Responder, we’re committed to engaging the entire first responder community, connecting them directly to the the product innovation ecosystem. We’re confident that commitment will lead to lasting positive change. And it’s one of the many ways we’re working to improve the innovation ecosystem for public safety.

Nathanial Wish

CEO & Founder

Working directly with entrepreneurs and active first responders, we see first hand the inefficiencies throughout the product development lifecycle that prevent widescale deployment of innovative solutions.

While there’s broad interest to support innovation within the public safety ecosystem, we’ve seen very little continuity and follow through with respect to ensuring that innovation actually makes in to the hands of first responders. There’s a powerful community of innovators and supporters within government and private sector in the industry, but too often, there’s a significant disconnect between them.

At Responder, we’re committed to bringing these parties together. Together, we’re building a practical and self-sustaining network that’s supporting solutions first responders not only need, but will actually use.

We’re not just passionate about innovation, we’re passionate about making sure that innovation finds its way into the hands of first responders. That’s our mission, that’s our focus.
